The 2.9GW Morven ScotWind project applies for planning consent

Morven Offshore Wind Project

The developers have submitted two separate planning application for the Morven Offshore Wind array off the coast of Aberdeenshire. The 2.9GW ScotWind lease site has been split into Morven North and Morven South with 96 turbines in each. The joint project is awaiting word from the National Energy Systems Operator about grid connection dates at two coastal sites, Branxton in East Lothian and Hawthorne Pit in England.

The partners are aiming for construction to begin on the fixed wind projects this side of 2030 with commissioning of both parts between 2031 to 2035. When built the protect will be one of the largest in Europe.
