Qair gets onshore permit approved for 1GW Ayre
Qair get onshore infrastructure application approved for Ayre project.
The Highlands Council has approved a planning application for the onshore infrastructure associated with Qair’s 1GW Ayre floating wind farm off Caithness and Orkney.
Ayre project director Ewan Walker said: “This is an important development for the Ayre project. The onshore planning consent moves us a significant step closer to delivering clean energy at scale from the north of Scotland, while also contributing to UK government targets.
“The project is expected to create opportunities for local supply chains and skilled jobs across the region during both construction and long-term operations. We remain committed to working closely with local communities, stakeholders and supply chain partners to deliver this project.”
The Scottish government has recently concluded a consultation into an offshore consent application that was submitted for Ayre in December.
The ScotWind project is expected to go online in the early 2030s.
