GE Renewable Energy Haliade-X 12MW UK Supply Chain Engagement

15 May 2019

An industry first but business as usual for Team Scotland. SE and HI collaborated to organise two supply chain events for Scottish businesses to engage with GE Renewable Energy as it introduces its new Haliade-X 12 MW turbine.

The events were open to all for registration, with GE Renewable Energy reviewing applicants to refine who would be most suitable to attend. There were 30 delegates in Edinburgh and 18 in Inverness who benefited from a project update and 1:1 sessions with the key GE Renewable Energy personnel.

Haliade-X 12 M is the most powerful offshore wind turbine in the world to date, featuring a 12 MW capacity (the world's first), 220-meter rotor, a 107-meter blade designed by LM Wind Power, and digital capabilities.

In addition to being the biggest offshore wind turbine, the Haliade-X will also be the most efficient of wind turbines in the ocean. One Haliade-X 12 MW can generate enough clean power to supply 16,000 European households whilst a 750 MW Haliade-X 12 MW windfarm could produce enough power for up to one million households.
