A total of 134 delegates attended two Inch Cape Meet the Buyer events at the end of November, at which Red Rock Power Ltd announced their Tier One suppliers exclusively to the Scottish supply chain:
- NKT & Boskalis – Export Cables
- TBA – Turbines
- Boskalis – Marine Services
- GE Grids – Transmission Works
Held in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, the events served as a 'marketplace' for project information and business networks, helping companies to make the connections they need to become involved in the £2bn project. During his presentation, the new CEO of Red Rock Power, Guy Madgwick, said he was “excited to work with the Scottish supply chain because of their can-do attitude" and reiterated his commitment to maximising local content opportunities at Inch Cape. The Tier One contractors also presented at the event and, alongside Red Rock, took part in 65 one-to-one meetings with delegates across the two sessions. There was also plenty of time for networking, which gave the local supply chain ample opportunity to promote their services to the visiting contractors.
Looking ahead, the prospects for the Scottish offshore wind sector appear to be bright following BEIS's announcement of regular CfD rounds every two years from 2019 onward. Scottish Enterprise's next offshore wind event will focus on the opportunities arising from the forthcoming CfD round, and will held on Thursday 7th March in Glasgow. Spaces on the event are already filling up quickly, so please promote the event to your network and book your place soon to avoid disappointment: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/offshore-wind-contract-for-difference-and-the-scottish-supply-chain-tickets-52660925245
